HVAC Maintenance FAQs
A typical HVAC maintenance service includes:
- Inspecting and cleaning the condenser and evaporator coils.
- Checking and replacing the air filter.
- Checking refrigerant levels and recharging if necessary.
- Inspecting and tightening electrical connections.
- Lubricating moving parts.
- Cleaning and inspecting the blower motor and fan.
- Checking and calibrating the thermostat.
- Inspecting and cleaning the condensate drain.
- Testing system controls and safety switches.
- Checking ductwork for leaks and proper insulation.
- Assessing overall system performance and efficiency.
- Providing a detailed report of findings and recommendations for repairs or improvements.
You should replace the air filter in your HVAC system every 1 to 3 months. The exact frequency depends on factors such as the type of filter, your home’s air quality, the presence of pets, and how often you use your system. Homes with pets or allergy sufferers may need more frequent replacements. Regularly replacing the air filter ensures efficient system performance, reduces energy costs, and maintains good indoor air quality by trapping dust, pollen, and other contaminants.
